Yi tops Pressel in Jamie Farr playoff

Sylvania, Ohio. -- Eunjung Yi rolled in a 14-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff with Morgan Pressel Sunday and won the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic in Ohio.

The win was Yi's first on the LPGA Tour.

Yi carded an even-par 71 in the final round of regulation play and Pressel shot a 67, tying at 18-under 266.

The playoff began at No. 18, where Pressel missed a 25-foot birdie attempt before Yi won it with her birdie.

Michelle Wie (64), Seon-Hwa Lee (67) and Song-Hee Kim (69) tied for third place at 16-under 268.

The 21-year-old Yi, who lives in Murrieta, Calif., is a native of South Korea. She had not finished in the top 10 in any prior event this season.

Yani Tseng wins Corning Classic

Corning, N.Y. -- Yani Tseng shot a 5-under-par 67 Sunday for a one-shot victory in the final Corning Classic in New York.

Tseng, of Taiwan, finished at 21-under 267.

Paula Creamer (65) and Soo-Yun Kang (69) shared second place at 268, followed by Mika Miyazato (70), alone in fourth at 269.

Tseng's win was her second on the LPGA Tour.

"I feel really good right now," she said after the event. "On the back nine, I was playing really aggressive because I knew I hadn't made enough birdies to be on top."

Tseng won $225,000.

The tournament was the final Corning Classic, which had been played in Corning, N.Y., for 31 years.
