Bowyer wins after Talladega confusion

Talladega-- Clint Bowyer emerged the winner after a confusing end to Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Talladega, Ala., in which NASCAR reviewed tapes to determine a winner.

The 500-mile race ended under a caution flag after a major crash on the final lap that saw A.J. Allmendinger's car go airborne and flip upside down before rolling back over.

Bowyer got credit for his second Chase victory this season, edging Richard Childress Racing teammate Kevin Harvick, after race officials finished their reviews. Bowyer also won the first race in the playoffs last month at New Hampshire.

Harvick was given second place in a race that featured 87 lead changes, one short of the all-time NASCAR record set at Talladega earlier this year.

NASCAR again upholds Bowyer penalties

Concord, N.C. -- Clint Bowyer and Richard Childress Racing Tuesday lost their final appeal of a 150-point Sprint Cup championship penalty levied against them by NASCAR.

NASCAR Chief Appellate Officer John Middlebrook said he had ruled that Bowyer's points penalty will remain. Bowyer won the first race in the championship Chase, held Sept. 19 at New Hampshire, but his car failed a thorough post-race inspection conducted at NASCAR's Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C.

The NASCAR official, however, reduced the suspensions for Bowyer crew chief Shane Wilson and car chief Chad Haney.

Bowyer slapped with 150-point penalty

Daytona-- Sprint Cup driver Clint Bowyer was slapped with a 150-point penalty Wednesday for infractions during his Sunday win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

NASCAR said a post-race inspection found Bowyer's car was in violation of three rules. They included actions detrimental to stock car racing, non-conforming race equipment and a chassis failing to meet approved specifications.

NASCAR added that Bowyer crew chief Shane Wilson was fined $150,000 and suspended from the next six Sprint Cup events. Wilson was suspended until Nov. 3 and placed on probation until Dec. 31.

Owner Richard Childress also received a 150-point owner penalty.

Bowyer wins Dover 200 Nationwide race

Dover -- Clint Bowyer took the lead from Kyle Busch with 83 laps left Saturday to win the Dover 200 Nationwide Series race.

Busch, who won at Dover a year ago, had the dominant car for the first half of the 200-lap race but Bowyer came on strong shortly after the midway point.

Bowyer, the 2008 Nationwide champion, got his second win in his ninth start this season and his eighth career victory.

Mike Bliss finished second while Brad Keselowski came in third. Keselowski bumped Denny Hamlin from behind, sending Hamlin into the inside wall after he was running in the fourth spot.

Bowyer wins Nationwide race

Aytona Beach, Fla. July 3: Clint Bowyer held off Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards in a two-lap sprint to the finish Friday to win the Subway Jalapeno 250 at Daytona International Speedway.

The Nationwide series victory was Bowyer's first at Daytona.

Bowyer was in front when a four-car accident brought out the yellow flag near the close of the race. He grabbed the lead on the restart, got a push from Busch and fought off a challenge from Edwards.

Busch, the series leader, increased his advantage over the second-place Edwards to 172 points. Joey Logano and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top five.
