Reports: Boozer has deal with Bulls

Chicago -- Free agent power forward Carlos Boozer has agreed to a five-year contract with the Chicago Bulls, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday.

The Chicago Tribune cited two unnamed league sources as saying Boozer and the Bulls had reached a deal and ESPN reported the contract is worth $80 million.

If correct, Boozer would become the latest big-name free agent to sign a rich deal in a chaotic NBA off-season. Earlier Wednesday, free agents Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh announced they both intend to sign with the Miami Heat.

Still unresolved is the status of the biggest free agent of them all, LeBron James. ESPN said Wednesday that James would reveal his choice Thursday in an hourlong special to be carried by the cablecaster.

Bulls acknowledge Paxson, Del Negro tiff

Chicago -- The Chicago Bulls Wednesday acknowledged a confrontation between head Coach Vinny Del Negro and Vice President of Basketball Operations John Paxson.

Bulls General Manager Gar Forman released a statement saying the dispute between the two was "the result of each expressing their passion about the health and well being of their players and the desire to win basketball games."

Yahoo! Sports originally reported that Paxson shoved Del Negro following a March 30 home loss to Phoenix.

The Web site said Paxson allegedly was angry the coach had twice played Joakim Noah longer than called for under a medically imposed time limit. Noah has a foot ailment called plantar fasciitis.

Sources: Bulls' Del Negro to be fired

Chicago -- Sources with knowledge of the Chicago Bulls' operations claim the NBA team is prepared to fire Head Coach Vinny Del Negro.

The sources, whose identities were not released, said Bulls officials have already decided to part ways with Del Negro and have begun searching for a replacement for the head coach, ESPN the Magazine reported online Monday.

Former Bulls coach Doug Collins and the Bulls' executive vice president of basketball operations John Paxson were considered as possible replacements, the sources indicated.
They said Paxson decided against taking over the reins of the struggling NBA team, while Collins informed the club he was not interested in the head coaching position.

Pargo returns to NBA

Chicago -- Guard Jannero Pargo is back in the NBA after a one-year hiatus in Europe.

The Chicago Bulls signed Pargo, 29, who played professionally in Russia and Greece last year, to an undisclosed contract Monday.

The 6-foot-1 Chicago native has six seasons of NBA experience, having played 316 games for Chicago, the Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte, Toronto and, most recently, New Orleans.

His career stats include 6.9 points and 2.1 assists per game.

Bulls owner offers to buy Phoenix Coyotes

Montreal, Ontario -- Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf heads a group offering $148 million to buy the Phoenix Coyotes, an NHL executive has confirmed.

The league said in a statement before the NHL draft that the offer was submitted in bankruptcy court documents in Phoenix Friday afternoon.

"We're aware the offer has been made," NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said.

"We're pleased there's an offer to own and operate the Coyotes in Phoenix."

The league said the offer by the Reinsdorf group calls for a new Jobing.com Arena lease with the city of Glendale and unspecified new agreements with other creditors -- including the NHL, which has been funding the cash-strapped franchise.
