Police told the BBC Charlie Gilmour, 21, tried to damage the flag on the Cenotaph war memorial Thursday and was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and attempted criminal damage.

Gilmour, a student at Cambridge, apologized Friday, saying he was "mortified by his moment of idiocy."

He added, "I would like to express my deepest apologies for the terrible insult to the thousands of people who died bravely for our country that my actions represented."

Police: Man exposed self to elderly woman

Sarasota, Fla. -- A 27-year-old Florida man has been arrested on accusations he stalked an 89-year-old woman and repeatedly masturbated in her yard, authorities said.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said Alexis Ali Moreland was spotted by the Sarasota woman on at least seven occasions since March and was recorded peering into her window and walking nude through her yard by surveillance cameras placed by investigators, the Bradenton Herald reported Friday.

The woman told investigators Moreland was usually masturbating when she spotted him in her back yard.

Man accused of hitting police horse

Houston -- A Houston man who allegedly struck a police horse outside of a Houston Texans game has been charged with interference with a police service animal.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said Sgt. Richard Castillo briefly lost control of his horse after it was struck on the hindquarters by Jeff Siebert, 30, outside of the game Sunday at Reliant Stadium, The Houston Chronicle reported Thursday.

The sheriff's office said the horse jumped and struck a barricade marking off a pedestrian area before Castillo, who was working an off-duty security job, was able to regain control.

Siebert was released after posting $5,000 bail. He is due in court next week.

A Virginia grandmother has been arrested and charged with the murder of her two-and-half-year-old granddaughter after she threw her off a six stories walkway at a shopping mall on a family outing, according to several tabloids reported, citing police officials as saying on Tuesday.

Woman charged for allegedly flashing cop

Boca Raton, Fla. -- Police in Florida said a woman was charged with indecent exposure for allegedly flashing her breast at a police officer.

Investigators said a patrolling officer spotted Heather Angel Fiore, 31, touching a shutter lock on the window of a closed meat market in Boca Raton at about 10:20 p.m. Saturday, TCPalm.com reported Tuesday.

The arrest report said Fiore repeatedly told the officer she was planning to flash him and he warned her it would violate the law. Fiore exposed one of her breasts and was placed under arrest, police said.

David Cassidy booked for driving under influence

David Cassidy, the former child actor, teen heartthrob, and pop singer made famous by his role in the 1970's musical sitcom, The Partridge Family, was arrested on Wednesday night in St. Lucie County, Florida, on suspicion of DUI.
