MLB: Baltimore 10, Tampa Bay 5

Baltimore, Sept. 15: Matt Wieters hit a three-run homer and drove in five runs Tuesday to lead Baltimore from a five-run deficit to a 10-5 win over Tampa Bay.

Luke Scott homered and drove in two runs for the Orioles and Brian Roberts and Cesar Izturis each had three hits and an RBI.

Jason Berken (5-11) allowed five runs and seven hits over 6 1/3 innings to win his third straight decision. The right-hander is unbeaten over his last five starts, last losing on Aug. 18 to the Rays.

Pat Burrell had a three-run homer and four RBI for the Rays. Ben Zobrist had three hits and an RBI and scored twice. Jeff Niemann (12-6) lost for the first time in his last nine outings after surrendering 11 hits and six runs over 4 1/3 innings.

MLB: Baltimore 5, Chicago White Sox 1

Chicago, Aug. 21: Brian Roberts hit two home runs Friday, the second one putting Baltimore in front in the eighth inning en route to a 5-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Roberts delivered a solo shot in the third and Jim Thome's homer in the fourth tied it. The score remained deadlocked at 1-1 until the Orioles broke through for four runs in the eighth.

Baltimore won its second straight and reached 50 victories for the season. Only Kansas City and Washington have yet to reach the 50-win mark.

Chicago starter Gavin Floyd (10-8) was still on the mound to open the eighth and he struck out the lead-off man. Felix Pie, however, singled to right and Roberts delivered a homer on a 1-1 pitch for a 3-1 lead.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels 8, Baltimore 5

Baltimore, Aug. 17: Vladimir Guerrero hit two home runs and had five RBI Monday to lead the Los Angeles Angels to an 8-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Maicer Izturis and Kendry Morales also homered for the Angels, who won the final three games of the four-game series.

Ervin Santana (6-6) was the winning pitcher after allowing the Orioles three runs and seven hits in six innings. The Angels won for the sixth time in their last seven games.

Cesar Izturis had three hits and Nick Markakis homered for Baltimore.

David Hernandez (4-5) was charged with the loss after giving up five runs on seven hits and four walks in 5 1/3 innings.

MLB: Baltimore 8, Detroit 2

Detroit, Aug. 4: Nick Markakis and Cesar Izturis each had three hits and three RBI Tuesday to lead the Baltimore Orioles to an 8-2 win over the Detroit Tigers.

Brian Matusz (1-0), the fourth overall selection in the 2008 draft, was recalled from Double-A Bowie to make his first start. The left-hander gave up one run on six hits and three walks in five innings.

Markakis and Izturis each homered and Melvin Mora and Matt Wieters each had an RBI for Baltimore.

Jarrod Washburn (8-7) made his debut for Detroit after the club acquired the veteran from Seattle last week. But Washburn, named the American League pitcher of the month for July Tuesday, allowed six runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Magglio Ordonez went 2-for-5 with an RBI for the Tigers.

MLB: Baltimore 7, Kansas City 3

Baltimore, July 29: Adam Jones and Nick Markakis both had three RBI Wednesday, powering Baltimore to just its second win in nine games -- a 7-3 decision over Kansas City.

Jones hit a two-run shot in the first inning, his third homer in as many games, but the Orioles faced a 3-2 deficit going into the seventh.

After Cesar Izturis and Brian Roberts walked off reliever Robinson Tejeda (1-1) to start the seventh, Jones doubled home Izturis to forge a 3-3 tie.

A single by Markakis delivered both Roberts and Jones for a 5-3 advantage.

Markakis added a run-scoring single during Baltimore's two-run eighth.

MLB: Baltimore 3, Kansas City 2

Kansas City, Mo. -- Cesar Izturis scored on an error in the fifth inning Saturday for the decisive run in the Baltimore Orioles' 3-2 win over the Kansas City Royals.

Rich Hill (1-0), making his first start since going to Baltimore from the Chicago Cubs in an off-season trade, allowed two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings for the win.

Nolan Reimold had two hits and an RBI for the Orioles.

Alberto Callaspo drove in both runs for the Royals, who have lost seven of their last eight games. Kyle Davies (2-2) suffered the loss after giving up three runs on five hits in seven innings.
