New York -- A New York judge has denied Cameron Douglas' request to be released from prison on bail so he can undergo outpatient drug treatment.

The 31-year-old son of actor Michael Douglas and grandson of screen icon Kirk Douglas pleaded guilty last month to heroin possession and conspiracy to distribute drugs.

The charges stem from Douglas' July 2009 arrest after he allegedly mailed 215 grams of methamphetamine in a package addressed to a government informant's post office box.

Douglas is expected to be sentenced in April to a minimum of 10 years in prison in exchange for his guilty plea.

New York -- Cameron Douglas, the 31-year-old son of actor Michael Douglas, pleaded guilty Wednesday in New York to heroin possession and conspiracy to distribute drugs.

The New York Daily News said Cameron Douglas entered the plea in Manhattan federal court.

The charges stem from Douglas' July 2009 arrest after he allegedly mailed 215 grams of methamphetamine in a package addressed to a government informant's post office box.

He was first placed under house arrest, and then imprisoned after his girlfriend was allegedly caught attempting to smuggle heroin to him hidden in an electric toothbrush in August.

E! News said Douglas is expected to be sentenced to a minimum of 10 years in prison in exchange for his guilty plea.

New York -- Cameron Douglas, son of U.S. film star Michael Douglas, could face a possible life sentence if convicted in his latest round of drug charges.

At a minimum, he would be sentenced to a mandatory 10 years in prison if he is convicted in a New York court on the charges, People magazine reported.

The 10-page complaint against Cameron Douglas filed by the New York state Drug Enforcement Agency alleges the 31-year-old sold large quantities of crystal methamphetamine from luxurious hotel rooms in New York and Los Angeles and used shipping services to move drugs and cash across the country, People said.

Los Angeles -- Cameron Douglas, the 30-year-old son of film star Michael Douglas, has been arrested on drug charges in New York, officials say.

The younger Douglas, a disc jockey and occasional actor who has a history of drug and legal troubles, was arrested July 28 at Manhattan's Gansevoort Hotel; a Drug Enforcement Agency task force allegedly caught him acting as middleman in a scheme to transport a half-pound of crystal methamphetamine from California to sell in New York, sources told the New York Post.

His arrest reportedly took place before the drugs were shipped.

The Post said Michael Douglas' representatives did not return a call seeking comment on the story.
