MLB: Toronto 6, Baltimore 5 (11 innings)

Toronto, Sept. 22: Aaron Hill's 100th RBI of the season, on a double in the 11th inning Tuesday, scored Jose Bautista and gave the Toronto Blue Jays a 6-5 win over Baltimore.

Hill, who also had his 33rd homer of the year, had not had more than 78 RBI in a season prior to this year. Edwin Encarnacion homered twice and drove in three runs for the Blue Jays.

Baltimore's Brian Roberts had three hits and two RBI and tied a major league record for doubles in a season by a switch-hitter with 55. Matt Wieters had three hits and an RBI for Baltimore, which has lost six in a row.
Dennis Sarfate (0-1), who walked Bautista and gave up the double to Hill, took the loss.

Shawn Camp (2-6), who pitched the top of the 11th, was the winner.

MLB: Baltimore 7, N.Y. Yankees 3

New York -- One of three hits by Brian Roberts Saturday was a grand slam that sent the Baltimore Orioles to a 7-3 victory over the New York Yankees.

Nolan Reimold hit a solo homer, and Robert Andino and Jeff Fiorentino also drove in runs for the Orioles, who have won four of six and can sweep the three-game series with a win Sunday.

Winner Brian Matusz (5-2) surrendered a run and just four hits in seven innings.

Mark Teixeira, Melky Cabrera and Jorge Posada all had one RBI for the Yankees, who were held to seven hits and have lost two straight games for the
first time since Aug. 16-17.

The losing pitcher was starter A.J. Burnett (11-9).

MLB: Baltimore 5, Chicago White Sox 1

Chicago, Aug. 21: Brian Roberts hit two home runs Friday, the second one putting Baltimore in front in the eighth inning en route to a 5-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Roberts delivered a solo shot in the third and Jim Thome's homer in the fourth tied it. The score remained deadlocked at 1-1 until the Orioles broke through for four runs in the eighth.

Baltimore won its second straight and reached 50 victories for the season. Only Kansas City and Washington have yet to reach the 50-win mark.

Chicago starter Gavin Floyd (10-8) was still on the mound to open the eighth and he struck out the lead-off man. Felix Pie, however, singled to right and Roberts delivered a homer on a 1-1 pitch for a 3-1 lead.

MLB: Baltimore 8, Tampa Bay 7

St. Petersburg, Fla. Aug. 20: Brian Roberts hit a grand slam in the sixth and Nolan Reimold had a three-run shot one inning later Thursday, lifting Baltimore to an 8-7 win over Tampa Bay.

Reimold's homer gave the Orioles an 8-4 cushion and they barely held onto the lead to salvage the final contest in the three-game series and avoid a sweep.

The Rays had a four-game winning streak snapped and fell four games behind Boston in the American League wild-card race. Baltimore had lost its previous five games.

Tampa Bay closed within one run with a three-run eighth -- two of the runs scoring on a broken-bat bloop to left by Carlos Pena.

MLB: Baltimore 3, Oakland 2

Baltimore, Aug. 11: Brian Roberts had three hits and an RBI Tuesday to lead the Baltimore Orioles to a 3-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

Adam Jones and Melvin Mora drove in the other runs for the Orioles, who beat the Athletics for the first time in their last 10 meetings.

Winning pitcher David Hernandez (4-4) allowed two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out six in 6 2/3 innings. Jim Johnson earned the save.

Losing pitcher Trevor Cahill (6-12) gave up three runs and eight hits over seven innings for his seventh loss in his last eight decisions. Scott Hairston and Adam Kennedy homered for the Athletics, who had won six of their previous eight games.

MLB: Detroit 6, Baltimore 5

Detroit, Aug. 3: Clete Thomas homered with two outs in the ninth inning Monday to give the Detroit Tigers a 6-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Miguel Cabrera had a homer and drove in three runs for the Tigers, who have won two in a row. Placido Polanco and Ramon Santiago each had an RBI in the win.

Fernando Rodney (2-2) earned the victory by pitching a perfect ninth.

Brian Roberts had a solo homer for the Orioles, who have lost four in a row and 13 of their last 17 games. Luke Scott had a two-run double and Ty Wigginton and Aubrey Huff each had an RBI in the loss.

Detroit starter Justin Verlander gave up five runs on nine hits with eight strikeouts and one walk in eight innings.

MLB: Baltimore 7, Kansas City 3

Baltimore, July 29: Adam Jones and Nick Markakis both had three RBI Wednesday, powering Baltimore to just its second win in nine games -- a 7-3 decision over Kansas City.

Jones hit a two-run shot in the first inning, his third homer in as many games, but the Orioles faced a 3-2 deficit going into the seventh.

After Cesar Izturis and Brian Roberts walked off reliever Robinson Tejeda (1-1) to start the seventh, Jones doubled home Izturis to forge a 3-3 tie.

A single by Markakis delivered both Roberts and Jones for a 5-3 advantage.

Markakis added a run-scoring single during Baltimore's two-run eighth.

MLB: Baltimore 6, Philadelphia 5

Philadelphia, June 20: Brian Roberts hit a two-run homer during a three-run ninth inning rally Saturday to give the Baltimore Orioles a 6-5 inter-league win over Philadelphia.

Roberts had four RBI, Gregg Zaun had a solo homer and Aubrey Huff had an RBI for the Orioles, who left 14 men on base but still won for the sixth time in their last seven games.

Mark Hendrickson (2-4) got the win with two-thirds of an inning in relief.

George Sherrill pitched a perfect ninth for his 14th save.

Ryan Howard had a pinch-hit three-run homer and Chase Utley and Greg Dobbs each had an RBI for the Phillies who scored all five of their runs in the seventh inning.

MLB: Baltimore 8, Atlanta 4

Baltimore, June 13: Brian Roberts hit a two-run double in a six-run seventh Saturday and the Baltimore Orioles beat Atlanta 8-4 in an inter-league contest.

The Braves had scored four times in the top of the fourth and led 4-2 before Baltimore's outburst.

Brian Roberts led Baltimore with four hits, Adam Jones drove in three with a two-run homer and a sacrifice fly, and Melvin Mora had three its and one RBI.

Luke Scott had two hits and one RBI, while Nolan Reimold added a run and three hits for the Orioles, who stopped their three-game losing streak.

The winner was reliever Brian Bass (4-1).

MLB: Baltimore 4, Toronto 1

Baltimore-- Brian Roberts doubled and tripled and had an RBI and two runs Monday to lead the Baltimore Orioles to a 4-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Roberts left the game after seven innings with a shin contusion and was replaced at second base by Robert Andino.

Aubrey Huff and Greg Zaun also each had an RBI for Baltimore.

Winning pitcher Jeremy Guthrie (4-4) allowed one run on seven hits in seven innings.

Vernon Wells had the only RBI for the Blue Jays, who have lost seven straight.
Losing pitcher Brian Tallet (2-3) gave up two runs on seven hits in six innings.
