MLB: Oakland 9, Texas 0

Arlington, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Brett Tomko pitched a shutout and Ryan Sweeney had three doubles and four RBI Monday in Oakland's 9-0 thrashing of Texas.

Tomko (5-3) gave up five hits in a complete-game effort. Adam Kennedy went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored for the Athletics, who have won three of four. Rajai Davis and Kurt Suzuki each drove in a run.

Scott Feldman (16-5), who had won seven straight decisions, took the loss despite giving up six runs on six hits.

Nelson Cruz had the lone extra-base hit for Texas, which has lost three of four.

MLB: Oakland 11, Chicago White Sox 3

Chicago, Sept. 8 Jack Cust hit a three-run homer in a five-run first inning Tuesday to boost the Oakland Athletics to an 11-3 thrashing of the Chicago White Sox.

Ryan Sweeney was 4-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBI. Scott Hairston and Kurt Suzuki each had two RBI, Rajai Davis had three hits, three runs and an RBI, and Mark Ellis added a solo homer for Oakland.

Brett Tomko (4-3) got the win after allowing three runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Carlos Torres (1-1), coming off his first big league win in his previous start, didn't make it out of the first inning after surrendering five runs on four hits.

Paul Konerko and Mark Kotsay each homered for Chicago.

MLB: Seattle 7, Oakland 4

Oakland, Calif. Sept. 4: Franklin Gutierrez and Bill Hall hit two-run homers in the first inning Thursday, starting the Seattle Mariners on their way to a 7-4 win over Oakland.

Ichiro Suzuki opened the game with a single off Brett Tomko (3-3) and Gutierrez followed with his 15th home run of the year.

After Tomko retired the next two batters, he gave up a double to Adrian Beltre and a homer to Hall.

Ian Snell (6-10) survived five innings to get the win, his fourth in as many starts. He gave up two runs on seven hits while walking four.

David Aardsma worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his 34th save.

Kenji Johjima hit a two-run homer in the fourth for Seattle, which has won 10 of 13 meetings with Oakland this season.

MLB: Oakland 3, New York Yankees 0

Oakland, Calif. Aug. 18: Brett Tomko pitched five scoreless innings against his former team Monday to help the Oakland Athletics beat the New York Yankees 3-0.

Tomko (2-2) allowed five hits and one walk, and struck out one batter. The Yankees gave him his release last month and the A's signed him Aug. 5.

Andrew Bailey earned his 18th save in Oakland's second straight win.

Scott Hairston had two hits and scored a run for the A's, who also got an RBI apiece from Kurt Suzuki and Mark Ellis.

New York starter A.J. Burnett (10-6) gave up three runs on six hits in eight innings to take the loss.

Derek Jeter had three hits for the Yankees.

MLB: N.Y. Yankees 10, Minnesota 2

Minneapolis, July 8: The New York Yankees cranked out 16 hits in support of CC Sabathia's seven strong innings in Tuesday's 10-2 rout of the Minnesota Twins.

Brett Gardner, Robinson Cano and Francisco Cervelli each had two RBI for the Yankees.

Sabathia (8-5) gave up one run on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk for the win.

Scott Baker (6-7) took the loss for the Twins. He was run out of the game after three-plus innings, having been tagged for five runs on nine hits.

Michael Cuddyer hit a solo home run for Minnesota in the bottom of the second after the New Yorkers has taken a 3-0 lead with a run in the first and two in the second on Cervelli's sacrifice fly and an RBI single by Mark Teixeira.
