Walmart greeter turns 100

Franklin, Wis. -- A Wisconsin Walmart store threw a party to the birthday of its oldest employee, a 100-year-old woman.

Lois Speelman, who works as a greeter at the Franklin store in Milwaukee County, was the guest of honor at the store Monday during a party with cake and balloons celebrating her Wednesday birthday, WISN-TV, Milwaukee, reported Tuesday.

Speelman, who works about 35 hours per week and still drives herself to work, first came to work for the store in 2000 and retired six years later. However, she said she returned to work as a greeter the following year because she missed her coworkers.

New York -- Paul McCartney, Katie Couric, Christie Brinkley and Jimmy Buffett were among the guests at former President Bill Clinton's 64th birthday party in New York.

The New York Post said Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton helped throw the bash for her husband Sunday at the Water Mill home of Bill's longtime aide Doug Band and his wife, Lily.

Also on the guest list for the party, which was catered by Jason Weiner of Almond restaurant in Bridgehampton, were fashion designer Vera Wang, "Today Show" host Matt Lauer and Goldman Sachs Chief Executive Officer Lloyd Blankfein, the Post said.

Bill Clinton served as president of the United States from 1993 to 2001.

Prosecutor: Vick in face-off with victim

Virginia Beach, Va. -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick had a "confrontation" with the victim of a shooting at his birthday party, a Virginia prosecutor said Wednesday.

Commonwealth's Attorney Harvey Bryant said Vick was gone by the time the shooting outside a club in Virginia Beach occurred, WAVY-TV reported. But he said a few minutes earlier there was "shouting, words passing, some bumping."

No one has been charged with the shooting, although police say they have identified the person who pulled the trigger. Investigators say witnesses, including the victim, have not been helpful.

Bryant said Vick was in a limo and about to leave when he got into the fight.

Vick cooperating in Va. shooting probe

Virginia Beach, Va. -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is cooperating with police investigating a shooting at his birthday party last week, his attorney said Monday.

Police say Vick isn't a suspect in the shooting, in which an unidentified person was injured after attending his Thursday night birthday bash at a restaurant in the city's Town Center entertainment district, The (Norfolk, Va.) Virginian-Pilot reported.

But Vick's attorney, Lawrence H. Woodward Jr., told the newspaper the quarterback was voluntarily cooperating with the investigation and visited with detectives Monday morning.

Woodward asserted Vick left the party about 30 minutes before shots were fired on the street outside the Guadalajara restaurant.
