MLB: Tampa Bay 13, NY Yankees 4

St. Petersburg, Oct. 3 -- B.J. Upton hit for the cycle, drove in a career-best six runs and scored three times Friday in pacing Tampa Bay to a 13-4 victory over the New York Yankees.

Upton's cycle was the first in Tampa Bay history.

He started his big night with a three-run triple in the first, had a double during a four-run third, hit a two-run homer in the fourth and completed the cycle with an RBI single in the fifth.

Evan Longoria and Ben Zobrist also had two RBI each in helping Tampa Bay win for the fifth time in six games.

David Price (10-7) picked up the easy win, allowing a run on just two hits in seven innings.

MLB: Tampa Bay 3, Baltimore 1

St. Petersburg, Fla., Sept. 29 : Willy Aybar went 3-for-4 with an RBI Tuesday to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles, who have lost 12 straight.

Ben Zobrist drove in a run and scored once and B.J. Upton had an RBI for the Rays, who have won eight of their last 11 games.

Wade Davis (2-1) gave up one run on seven hits and three walks for the win. Over five starts in September, Davis has allowed just 27 hits and 12 earned runs in 31 1/3 innings, with 31 strikeouts.

Luke Scott drove in the lone run for the Orioles. Baltimore fell a season-worst 37 games under .500 (60-97) and is three defeats away from its first 100-loss since going 54-107 in 1988.

MLB: Seattle 4, Tampa Bay 3

St. Petersburg, Fla., Sept. 22: Jose Lopez homered in the eighth inning Tuesday to give the Seattle Mariners a 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Tampa Bay was eliminated from postseason contention.

Ichiro Suzuki had a two-run homer for the Mariners, who got their fifth win in their last six games. Adrian Beltre also drove in a run for Seattle.

B.J. Upton drove in two runs for the Rays, whose four-game winning streak ended. Jason Bartlett also drove in a run for Tampa Bay.

Neither starter got a decision. Ryan Rowland-Smith lasted five-plus innings and gave up three runs on six hits for Seattle. Jeff Niemann went 6 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on four hits.

MLB: Tampa Bay 3, Baltimore 1

St. Petersburgh, Fla. Aug. 19: Another solid outing by Jeff Niemann Wednesday, along with three solo homers, lifted Tampa Bay to its fourth consecutive victory -- 3-1 over Baltimore.

Niemann (11-5) has turned into Tampa Bay's leading pitcher this year, posting 11 wins in his last 14 decisions. He has allowed three runs or fewer in 16 of his last 21 starts.

He gave up a run on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings, striking out five. After surrendering a one-out homer to Brian Roberts in the eighth, Niemann was replaced by Dan Wheeler.

Wheeler retired the only two men he faced and J.P. Howell came on to work a perfect ninth for his 14th save.

MLB: Tampa Bay 5, Baltimore 4

St. Petersburgh, Fla. Aug. 18: B.J. Upton had a home run, a triple and two RBI Tuesday to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a 5-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

Gabe Gross added a two-run homer and Pat Burrell hit a solo home run for the Rays, who have won three straight games.

David Price (6-5) got the win after allowing two runs on seven hits. He has won four of his last six decisions and improved to 6-1 in eight home starts this season.

J.P. Howell got his 13th save of the season with a scoreless ninth.

Matt Wieters had a two-run homer and Adam Jones and Nolan Reimold each drove in a run for Baltimore, which has lost four in a row.

Jason Berken (2-11) took the loss after giving up five runs and 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

MLB: Tampa Bay 6, N.Y. Yankees 2

St. Petersburg, Fla. July 28: B.J. Upton and Carl Crawford each had two hits, an RBI, and a run scored Tuesday to help the Tampa Bay Rays beat the New York Yankees 6-2.

Scott Kazmir (5-6) gave up one run on five hits in seven-plus innings to earn the win for the Rays.

Evan Longoria had a solo homer, and Dioner Navarro and Jason Bartlett each had an RBI for Tampa Bay.

Losing pitcher CC Sabathia (10-7) allowed six runs on nine hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Hideki Matsui had two RBI for the Yankees, who have won 10 of their last 12 games.

MLB: Tampa Bay 10, N.Y. Mets 6

New York -- B.J. Upton's four hits and four RBI Sunday keyed Tampa Bay's 10-6 inter-league victory over the New York Mets.

Upton's two-run homer gave Tampa Bay a 6-5 lead, erasing a 5-4 deficit with no outs in the top of the seventh inning. He also hit a two-run fifth-inning double.

Carl Crawford had three hits and two RBI, Gabe Kapler drove in two runs and Carlos Pena had one RBI for the winners. Evan Longoria added a run, four hits and one RBI for the Rays, who took two of three in the series and have won eight of 11 overall.

The winner was reliever Joe Nelson (2-0).

New York's Brian Schneider hit a three-run sixth-inning homer.Two other Mets had one RBI.

MLB: Tampa Bay 8, Cleveland 7

St. Petersburg -- B.J. Upton hit his first home run of the season to open the ninth inning Friday, completing a Tampa Bay rally and giving the Rays an 8-7 win over Cleveland.

Upton, who came into the game batting .179, hit a 3-2 pitch off Luis Vizcaino (0-1). Upton was the only batter Vizcaino faced.

Cleveland built a 7-0 lead through 3 1/2 innings and the Rays spent the rest of the game chipping away at their deficit.

Carlos Pena had a two-run single as part of a three-run fourth inning and Ben Zobrist eventually tied the game with a solo homer in the eighth.

Dan Wheeler (1-0), the last of five Tampa Bay pitchers, got the win by working out of trouble in the ninth.
