Honda to add shifts at Ohio plant

East Liberty, Ohio -- Honda Motors Co. Friday said it would add a Saturday work shift at an assembly plant in Ohio, another signal that the automotive industry is reviving.

Honda spokesman Ron Lietzke said the company would "continue to adjust our production as the market recovers."

"We feel we're in a very good position," he added.

The plant in East Liberty, Ohio, produces the CR-V crossover and the Element crossover SUV, the Columbus, Ohio, Dispatch reported Friday.

A second Ohio plant in Marysville was not scheduling Saturday hours, Lietzke said.

A Honda plant in Lincoln, Ala., which builds Honda pickup trucks and minivans, is adding shifts.
