Luxemburg -- No. 2-seeded Aravane Rezai won only one game and was among four seeded players beaten Wednesday at the Luxembourg Open tennis tournament.
Kirsten Flipkens blasted Rezai 6-0, 6-1, breaking Rezai's serve five times in six games. Flipkens fired seven aces and won 68 percent of the points on serve and 65 percent for the match. Rezai won only two of her 16 second-serve points in the 47-minute, second-round match.
Seventh-seeded Jarmila Groth also lost a second-round match while No. 3-seeded Yanina Wickmayer and sixth-seeded Timea Bacsinszky dropped first-rounders.

Palermo, Italy -- No. 2-seeded Aravane Rezai took a straight-set win Thursday and earned a spot in the quarterfinals of the Palermo International tennis tournament in Italy.
Rezai stopped Mariana Duque Marino 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 with service breaks in each set. Marino served and got the first point of the tie-breaker but Rezai won seven of the next ninth points and then had an early second-set break to move into position for the win.
All four of the second-round matches Thursday were decided in two sets.
Sara Errani, the No. 3 seed, defeated Mirjana Lucic 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) by holding serve eight of nine times in the match.
Fifth-seeded Kaia Kanepi had little trouble in a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ioana Raluca Olaru. Kanepi won 64 percent of the points from Olaru.

Bastad, Sweden -- Second-seeded Aravane Rezai of France won the third title of her career Saturday with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 decision over Gisela Dulko at the Swedish Open.
Rezai, who has been on the women's tennis circuit for six seasons, claimed her other two championships last year.
Ranked 21st in the world, Rezai is in the midst of the best stretch of tennis she has played during those six years as a professional. She has reached at least the semifinals in three of her last six tournaments and fell to Venus Williams in the championship match at Madrid.
Rezai was knocked out in the second round at Wimbledon late last month.
Dulko, from Argentina, had been seeking her first tournament triumph in two years.

Bastad -- Aravane Rezai and Gisela Dulko each won in straight sets Friday and will meet in the finals of the Collector Swedish Open tennis tournament.
The second-seeded Rezai piled up six service breaks in a 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 3-seeded Lucie Safarova. Rezai dropped only 18 points on serve despite having her serve broken in three games.
Dulko, seeded fourth, knocked off No. 1-seed Flavia Pennetta 6-3, 6-1 in 73 minutes. Dulko had four service breaks and saved all eight of the break-point situations she faced. Pennetta saved 10 break-point situations in Thursday's quarterfinals and had to deal with 11 more Friday in the semis.

Bastad, Sweden -- Frenchwoman Aravane Rezai and Spaniard Arantxa Parra Santonja notched first-round victories Monday on the red clay at the Swedish Open.
Rezai, seeded second, dispatched American Lilia Osterloh 6-4, 6-2 and Parra Santonja, seeded fifth, eliminated Estonian Kaia Kanepi 6-4, 7-5.
Kanepi was coming off her first Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance in last week's Wimbledon tournament.
Also winning Monday at Bastad Tennis Stadium were Czech Renata Voracova, German Tatjana Malek, Uzbekistan's Akgul Amanmuradova and Croat Karolina Sprem.
This week's top seed is Italian Flavia Pennetta. Last year's finalists, winner Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain and Dane Caroline Wozniack, aren't entered.

Madrid -- U.S. tennis star Venus Williams will meet France's Aravane Rezai in the Madrid Open finals after both won semifinal matches Saturday.
Williams, the fourth seed, had little trouble defeating Israeli Shahar Peer 6-3, 6-0 at the Magic Box in Madrid. She notched her fifth career victory against Peer with no defeats, all of them coming in straight sets.
With the win, Williams advanced to her fourth final of 2010. Earlier this year, she repeated as champion at Dubai and Acapulco, while losing to Kim Clijsters at Miami.
Rezai, meanwhile, earned her Madrid finals berth when Czech Lucie Safarova retired with a left thigh injury after losing the first set 6-1.

Madrid -- France's Aravane Rezai stunned U.S. star Venus Williams 6-2, 7-5 Sunday, taking the title match of the Madrid Open.
Rezai claimed her third WTA Tour crown, rallying to turn back a Williams challenge in the second set by saving six set points. She then moved quickly to finish off the former world No. 1 and notch the biggest win of her career.
Rezai, ranked 24th in the world, also defeated two other former top-ranked stars in Madrid: Justine Henin in the first round and Jelena Jankovic in the quarterfinals.

Marbella, Spain -- Fourth-seeded Aravane Rezai put together a one-sided victory Monday that vaulted her into the second round of the Andaucia Tennis Experience.
In this tuneup for the French Open, Rezai blasted Ruano Pascual 6-1, 6-1.
Tatjana Malek, Polona Hercog and Estrella Cabeza Candela also won first-round matches Monday. Cabeza Candela saved a match point in defeating Petra Martic 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
The top three seeds this week are Victoria Azarenka, Flavia Pennetta and Kim Clijsters, who is coming off her win over Venus Williams last weekend in Miami.
Last year's champion Jelena Jankovic is not defending her title.

Bali -- Aravane Rezai on Sunday completed an undefeated run through the WTA Tournament of Champions in Indonesia and collected a first-place check for $200,000.
Rezai, the tournament No. 10 seed, was declared the winner when top-seeded Marion Bartoli retired with a leg injury. Rezai won the first set 7-5 and Bartoli was unable to come out for a second set.
Bartoli led 5-3 but needed to have her left thigh taped and then lost the set when she had a double fault on set point.
"I'm very sorry for Marion that this happened," Rezai said. "I'd prefer to win in a different way, but it's tennis, a lot of different things happen."

Istanbul, Turkey July 29: Fourth-seeded Aravane Rezai, the highest seed in action Wednesday, became a second-round upset victim at the Istanbul Cup.
Rezai was eliminated by Marta Domachowska 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in the hardcourt event.
No. 5 seed Vera Dushevina advanced with a 6-0, 6-1 blasting of Maria Elena Camerin.
In the only other two matches contested Wednesday, No. 7 seed Olga Govortsova survived against Angelique Kerber 6-4, 6-7 (7-9), 6-4, and Timea Bacsinszky advanced when Mariya Koryttseva had to retire with an elbow injury. Bacsinszky had a 4-1 lead in the third set when play was halted.
