Kim downs Taylor in Houston playoff

Houston -- Anthony Kim's par on the first playoff hole Sunday was enough to down Vaughn Taylor and lift Kim to the Houston Open championship.

The two golfers went back to the 18th hole for the playoff. Kim two-putted from just inside 30 feet for par. Taylor, who landed in sand on his second and third shots, couldn't manage to save par with a 17-foot shot from the greenside bunker, handing the win to Kim.

Kim fired a 2-under 70 Sunday to pull into a tie with Taylor, who posted a 4-under 68, at 12-under 276.

The win was Kim's third on the PGA Tour and first since 2008 -- when he took both the Wachovia Championship and the AT&T National. He goes into The Masters with considerable momentum.

Kim, Molder tied for Houston Open lead

Houston -- Anthony Kim fired a three-under 69 Saturday, tying second-round leader Bryce Molder atop the Houston Open leaderboard after three rounds.

Both golfers sported 10-under 206s and were two strokes ahead of Vaughn Taylor (70) and Joe Ogilvie (71) at the Tournament Course at Redstone Golf Club in Houston.

Kim and Molder finished in knotted for first after both made exciting par saves on the 18th hole. Kim landed in the fairway but his approach shot barely avoided a water hazard and stopped 90 feet from the stick. His birdie putt try when seven feet past the hole, but holed the comebacker for par.

Kim wins $1 million at Kiwi Challenge

Hawke's Bay -- Anthony Kim defeated Sean O'Hair on the first playoff hole Thursday and claimed the $1 million first prize at the Kiwi Challenge tournament in New Zealand.

Kim needed only a bogey on the par-5, 650-yard 15th after O'Hair drove into trees on the left side of the fairway and battled to a double-bogey 7.

O'Hair led after the first round of the 36-hole, four-player competition, taking a 1-stroke lead over Camilo Villegas.

Kim shot 5-under-par 66 Thursday at the Cape Kidnappers Golf Resort to post a 36-hole total of 5-under 137 to take the lead into the clubhouse.
O'Hair used a birdie at the 18th hole to tie Kim and force the playoff.

Kim earns semifinal berth in match play

Casares-- Anthony Kim lost his meeting with Scott Strange Friday and still earned a semifinal berth in the Volvo World Match Play Championship.

Kim will join Robert Allenby, Masters champion Angel Cabrera and Ross Fisher in Saturday's semifinals.

The 16-man field was divided into four groups in a format change this year and the winner of the round-robin competition within each group reached the semifinals.

Kim won his first two matches and was assured a semifinal spot as long as he did not lose by more than three holes to Strange.

Anthony Kim dominates at match play

Casares, Spain -- Anthony Kim, whose game has suddenly reappeared after a poor season, won twice Thursday at the Volvo World Match Play Championship.

Kim defeated Retief Goosen by four holes in the morning and then downed Paul Casey by three holes in the afternoon to take command of his group.

After a breakthrough season in 2008, during which he won twice, claimed $4.6 million and was one of the stars of the American Ryder Cup team, Kim went without a victory in 2009.

He began his comeback with a 3-1 record last month at the Presidents Cup and he opened the match play event with a solid showing.

Kim leads Tiger by two at AT&T National

Bethesda, Md. July 2: Anthony Kim, winless since he captured this event a year ago, fired a course-record 8-under 62 Thursday for a two-shot lead at the AT&T National.

Kim was one of the hottest golfers in the world for much of 2008, claiming two victories during the year, starring in the American Ryder Cup triumph and finishing among the top three in five other tournaments.

He had had limited success this year, however, until finishing among the top 20 the past two weeks at the U.S. Open and Travelers Championship.

Woods surfaces for AT&T National

Bethesda, Md. July 1: Tiger Woods returns to competition Thursday in the opening round of a tournament where he is the host -- the AT&T National.

Defending AT&T champ Anthony Kim will also be in the field, looking for his first title since winning in Woods's absence last year.

Woods missed the 2008 event, as well as the entire second half of the season, while recovering from reconstructive knee surgery.
