Seoul -- Alisa Kleybanova rolled by Klara Zakopalova in straight sets Sunday in winning the Korea Open tennis tournament in Seoul for her second WTA title.
Kleybanova, the tournament's No. 5 seed, had six service breaks in a 6-1, 6-3 victory over the unseeded Zakopalova. She won $37,000 for finishing first. Zakopalova settled for $19,000.
"Before coming here I wasn't thinking about winning the title because I haven't been playing so well recently," Kleybanova said. "Day by day, match by match, I was feeling better about my game. Toward the end of the tournament I was fighting to win the title. I'm really happy that I made it in the end."

Seoul -- Alisa Kleybanova and Klara Zakopalova advanced Saturday through to the finals of the Korea Open tennis tournament in Seoul.
Kleybanova, the tournament's No. 5-seed, defeated No. 8-seeded Agnes Szavay 6-3, 6-2 in her semifinal and Zakopalova passed through when top-seeded Nadia Petrova retired because of illness in the first set.
Zakopalova was up 5-4 and a break when Petrova was forced to stop.
Kleybanova dropped serve once in her victory while winning games off Szavay's serve four times in eight receiving games.
Sunday's finals will be the second WTA meeting between Kleybanova and Zakopalova. Zakopalova won a straight-set decision between the two in 2008.

Seoul -- No. 5-seeded Alisa Kleybanova swept to a first-round victory Monday at the WTA's Korea Open in Seoul.
Kleybanova topped Kai-Chen Chang 6-2, 6-3 behind six service breaks. Kleybanova won nearly two-thirds of the points in Chang's service games. She had to overcome serve issues of her own, dropping serve three times and making four double faults.
Ekaterina Makarova took the only three-set match of the first day of the tournament, slipping past Iveta Benesova 6-2, 3-6, 7-5. She lost her serve twice in the decisive set but answered with three breaks against Benesova.

Carlsbad, Calif. -- Alisa Kleybanova added to Jelena Jankovic's recent struggles Wednesday by eliminating the No. 1 seed from the Mercury Insurance Open.
Kleybanova defeated Jankovic in the second round 7-5, 6-1. Jankovic had received a bye past the first round, but lost for the third time in four matches on the WTA Tour.
After retiring in the fourth round at Wimbledon, she won just one match in Slovenia before falling in her opening contest at this event.
Kleybanova will next meet either Jie Zheng or Daniela Hantuchova, who will face each other in a second-round match Thursday.
Second-seeded Samantha Stosur moved into the third round with a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Melanie Oudin.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -- Russians Elena Dementieva and Alisa Kleybanova posted straight-set wins Saturday in earning spots in the finals of the $220,000 Malaysian Open.
Dementieva, the tournament's No. 1 seed, defeated sixth-seeded Sybille Bammer 6-1, 6-3 and Kleybanova advanced with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Ayumi Morita.
Dementieva hasn't lost more than three games in any set this week, a trend she continued Saturday despite taking nearly two hours to complete the straight-set win. She was in control throughout, however, dropping serve just once and winning 59 percent of the points in the match.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -- No. 4-seeded Alisa Kleybanova cruised to a straight-set victory Monday in opening-round play at the $220,000 Malaysian Open tennis tournament.
Kleybanova blitzed Alicia Monk 6-1, 6-4 in just more than an hour. She lost just nine points over nine service games and faced only one break-point situation.
Fifth-seeded Melinda Czink and No. 8-seeded Olga Govortsova each fell in three sets. Czink was beaten by Zi Yan 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) in a match that took nearly 3 hours and in which Czink won eight more points than Zi.
Govortsova dropped a 6-4, 0-6, 7-5 decision to Anastasia Rodionova. Govortsova had four service breaks but three were in the second set and she had to fight through 16 break-point situations, losing three, herself.

Belgrade, Serbia -- A doubles win by Svetlana Kuznetsova and Alisa Kleybanova Sunday carried Russia into the Fed Cup semifinals, where its opponent will be the United States team.
Kuznetsova and Kleybanova knocked off Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic 6-1. 6-4 and the Russians had a 3-2 quarterfinal victory over Serbia.
Kleybanova had earlier tied the best-of-five series 2-2 with a singles win over Ivanovic.
The United States team advanced to the semis against the Russians with a 4-1 win over France.

Moscow -- No. 8 Francesca Schiavone, the only seed left, trounced Alona Bondarenko 6-4, 6-0 Saturday in one semifinal at the Kremlin Cup tennis tournament at Moscow.
The Italian asserted herself after Bondarenko played a close first set, and reached the final a second week in a row. Australia's Samantha Stosur beat her 7-5, 6-1 at last Sunday's Japan Open final.
"My tennis wasn't perfect today, but it was very good," said Schiavone, who secured her victory by winning the match's last seven games. "I was aggressive at the right times and took my chances."
Olga Govortsova of Belarus was Saturday's other winner, pounding Russia's Alisa Kleybanova 6-2, 6-1.

Stanford, Calif. July 28: Third-seeded Elena Dementieva and fifth seed Nadia Petrova won their opening round matches Monday at the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford, Calif.
Dementieva eliminated Anne Keothavong, 6-1, 6-4 and Petrova dropped Bethanie Mattek-Sands, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
Seventh seed Agnieszka Radwanska beat Sorana Cirstea, 6-0, 6-1.
In matches involving unseeded players, Melinda Czink beat Alisa Kleybanova, 6-0, 7-5; Monica Niculescu topped Meghann Shaughnessy, 6-1, 6-0; and Maria Sharapova beat of Ai Sugiyama, 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 6-1.
