MLB: Washington 2, Atlanta 1 (15 innings)

Atlanta -- Alberto Gonzalez hit a 15th-inning RBI single Sunday, leading the Washington Nationals to a 2-1 win over Atlanta and a surprising season-ending four-game sweep.

The hit by Gonzalez, his second of the game, broke a 1-1 tie with two outs in the top of the 15th against losing pitcher Boone Logan (1-1).

Adam Dunn's 105th RBI of the season came on a seventh-inning single, while Ian Desmond added two hits for the Nationals, who -- despite having baseball's worst record (59-103) -- finished the 2009 season with a record seven-game winning streak in their longest contest since they relocated from Montreal in 2005.

The winner was Logan Kensing (1-2).

Nate McLouth produced Atlanta's only run with a sixth-inning solo homer, his 20th this season.

Washington, July 21: John Lannan pitched a seven-hit shutout Tuesday, pacing the Washington Nationals to a 4-0 victory over the New York Mets.

Lannan (7-7), who walked none, had his first-ever shutout and his second complete game of the season.

Adam Dunn was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Nationals, who won for the first time in six games under new Manager Jim Riggleman, who replaced Manny Acta during the All-Star break. Josh Willingham, Alberto Gonzalez and Wil Nieves each had an RBI for Washington, which ended a six-game losing streak.

Losing pitcher Oliver Perez (2-3) allowed four runs on four hits with six walks.
Jeff Francoeur had two hits for the Mets.

MLB: Washington 13, Houston 2

Houstonn, July 11: Craig Stammen pitched his first career complete game Saturday and the Washington Nationals amassed 21 hits in a 13-2 rout of the Houston Astros.

The hit total represented a franchise high since the former Montreal Expos moved to Washington in 2005.

Josh Willingham hit two homers with four RBI, Nick Johnson and Adam Dunn hit solo shots, Alberto Gonzalez had four hits and two RBI, Johnson had three hits and two RBI and Ronnie Belliard had two hits.

Stammen was one of three others with one RBI, while Dunn and Cristian Guzman had two hits apiece for the Nationals, who ended a four-game losing streak.

Stammen (2-4) surrendered nine hits in his best effort in the majors.

MLB: Washington 5, Toronto 3

Washington, June 20: Willie Harris hit a two-run homer in the 12th inning Saturday to give the Washington Nationals a 5-3 inter-league triumph over the Toronto Blue Jays

Harris also had a double, while helping the Nationals extend their winning streak to a season-high four games.

Alberto Gonzalez led off the bottom of the 12th with a walk against Scott Richmond (5-4), who entered the game in the 11th. Harris batted next and pulled a full-count pitch over the right field fence to make a winner of Julian Tavarez (3-4), who worked the final 1 2/3 innings.

Gonzalez finished with three hits and Nick Johnson was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Washington.

Vernon Wells homered and Scott Rolen had an RBI for Toronto.
