ABBA enters US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

New York, December 16 -- Legendary music group ABBA is all set to enter the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as 2010 inductees, along with The Stooges, Jimmy Cliff, The Hollies, and Genesis.

Cleveland -- The U.S. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation Tuesday announced ABBA, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, The Hollies and The Stooges will be its 2010 artist inductees.

Also to be inducted as individual recipients of the Ahmet Ertegun Award are producer David Geffen and songwriters Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, Elle Greenwich, Jeff Barry, Jesse Stone, Mort Shuman and Otis Blackwell.

The induction ceremony is to take place March 15 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. It is to air live on Fuse, Madison Square Garden's national music television network, as part of the three-year broadcast deal between the Foundation and Fuse.

1978 ABBA concert being released on DVD

Los Angeles -- Universal Music Enterprises has announced plans to release on DVD a 1978 concert film featuring the Swedish pop group ABBA performing in Japan.

"ABBA In Japan," which was taped for Japanese television more than three decades ago, is set for release Tuesday.

The only previous ABBA concert films are "ABBA In Concert" and "ABBA: The Movie."

"In Japan" shows Agnetha Faltskog, Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Ani-Frid Lyngstad performing 14 songs, such as "Take a Chance on Me," "Money, Money, Money," "SOS," "Dancing Queen," "Waterloo," "Fernando," "Knowing Me, Knowing You," "The Name of the Game" and "Thank You for the Music."

ABBA, Kiss suggested for Rock Hall of Fame

Cleveland -- ABBA, Kiss, LL Cool J, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Stooges are among the nominees for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 2010.

Also nominated Wednesday for the honor were Darlene Love, Donna Summer, Genesis, Jimmy Cliff, Laura Nyro, The Chantels and The Hollies.

Ballots will be sent to more than 500 voters, who will select artists to be inducted at the 25th annual induction ceremony March 15 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York.

To be eligible, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This year's nominees had to release their first single no later than 1984, the museum said on its Web site.
