MLB: Detroit 3, Cleveland 1

Cleveland, Sept. 22: Edwin Jackson pitched seven shutout innings Tuesday to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 3-1 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Jackson (13-7) allowed seven hits and three walks for the Tigers, who moved three games ahead of Minnesota in the AL Central. Ryan Raburn homered and Magglio Ordonez finished 3-for-3 in the victory.

Asdrubal Cabrera scored the only run for Cleveland, which has lost nine consecutive games and 13 of its last 14.

Aaron Laffey (7-7) suffered the loss despite allowing only one run on seven hits and three walks in 6 2/3 innings.

MLB: Texas 10, Cleveland 5

Cleveland, Sept. 9: Chris Davis had a three-run home run and four RBI Tuesday to lead the Texas Rangers to a 10-5 win and a doubleheader sweep over Cleveland.

Davis had three hits as part of an 18- hit attack for the Rangers, who trail the first-place Los Angeles Angels by 3 1/2 games in the AL West, and pulled within two games of Boston in the AL wild-card chase. The Angels beat Seattle 3-2 in 10 innings Tuesday.

Marlon Byrd and Ian Kinsler also had three hits for Texas -- which put together 31 hits in two games against the Indians. The Rangers won the opener 11-9.

In the nightcap, Texas scored four runs in the second inning and went ahead 7-0 in the fourth on an RBI single by Andruw Jones.

MLB: Detroit 4, Cleveland 2

Detroit, Sept. 2: Rookie Rick Porcello allowed five hits in seven-plus innings Wednesday and Detroit took advantage of five Cleveland errors to down the Indians 4-2.

Detroit won for the third time in four games and increased its American League Central lead over Minnesota to 4 ½ games.

Porcello (12-8) did not walk a batter and threw only 80 pitches. He was removed after giving up a leadoff homer to Travis Hafner in the eighth.

Detroit scored an unearned run in the first thanks to a throwing error by second baseman Luis Valbuena and one of its two fourth-inning runs came courtesy of a throwing miscue by third baseman Jhonny Peralta.

MLB: Cleveland 5, Texas 0

Cleveland, Aug. 11: Aaron Laffey worked 6 2/3 shutout innings Tuesday and remained unbeaten at home this season to lead the Cleveland Indians to a 5-0 victory over Texas.

Laffey (6-3) allowed six hits for the Indians, who have won five of their last six games.

Luis Valbuena drove in two runs in the victory.

Josh Hamilton and Omar Vizquel each had two hits for Texas.

Texas starter Dustin Nippert (3-1) allowed five runs on six hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts.

MLB: Cleveland 8, Minnesota 1

Cleveland, Aug. 5: Aaron Laffey allowed just one unearned run in the longest outing of his career Wednesday, boosting the Cleveland Indians to an 8-1 victory over Minnesota.

Laffey (5-3), who is in his third major league season, and was making his 34th career start, went eight innings while giving up six hits. He struck out five and walked one in bringing the Indians their eighth win in 12 games.

The Twins slipped 3 ½ games behind division-leading Detroit in the American League Central.

Cleveland built a 4-1 lead through 5 ½ innings and then broke the game open in the sixth with four runs.

Grady Sizemore, Asdrubal Cabrera and Shin-Soo Choo all had RBI doubles in the sixth.

MLB: Chicago White Sox 5, Cleveland 1

Chicago, July 8: Jermaine Dye had three hits Wednesday and drove in a run with each of them, pushing the Chicago White Sox past Cleveland 5-1.

The White Sox have won nine times in 11 outings and stayed two games behind division-leading Detroit in the American League Central.

Jose Contreras (4-7) struck out a season-best nine batters over 6 1/3 to get the win. He allowed six hits, including a homer by Jhonny Peralta in the seventh.

Dye had an RBI double in the first, drove in a run with a single in the third and his base hit in the seventh produced another score.
