Characters from the 15 year old history of the game feature in this version, which is being touted as the biggest Resident Evil outing.

The tremendous marketing campaign unleashed by the producer, Capcom, notwithstanding, the game could manage only tepid reviews.

Its partner, Microsoft Studios had put it up center stage during the E3 press conference, but even that exposure could not prevent critics for taking potshots at the game. But guess what, it stills stands apart from the competitors like Halo 4 and Call of Duty!

GameSpot reviews Resident Evil 6
Experts at GameSpot have plenty to rant about it, “This is a wannabe action film that resents your interference, and punishes you by forcing one horrible quick-time event after another upon you.

"There's a place for contextual prompts and cinematic storytelling in video games, but Resident Evil 6 is a mishmash of elements put together without any sense of care or direction. Series faithful might stumble through for the sake of story, and perhaps to appreciate those few moments that recall when Resident Evil was at its peak glory. But this long, poor sequel is the ultimate test of patience for even the most dedicated."

GameSpot has given the game measly 4.5 rating on a scale of 10.

Joystiq
Joystiq, another prominent gaming portal, is equally miffed with it, giving it a poor 2.5/5 rating.

According to experts, "If every idea had come together without friction, and with the aid of Capcom's top-notch presentation, Resident Evil 6 would have been a tremendous action game."

They add, "Instead, it's a fully-featured, sloppy, frequently frustrating attempt to do well by everyone."

However, some experts like those at Game Informer and IGN have given it pretty good reviews. The jury is still out and customer response throughout the upcoming holiday season will determine whether the game is a winner or just another zombie!
