When all the smartphone manufacturers are going for bigger phones to offer rich multimedia experience, HP launched their tiny smartphone named Veer 4G.

The smartphone comes with a contract from AT&T and promises 4G speed.

Design and Feature
HP Veer is one of the smallest smartphone with a slide out qwerty keyboard. It looks cute due to its lightweight body and compact design, but if you are expecting to enjoy multimedia and high quality internet surfing on this phone then it will disappoint you.

The handset is just 3.31 inches tall, 2.15 inches wide, and 0.59 inch thick. It weighs 3.63 ounces. This small size diminishes the smartphone experience.

The phone sports a 2.6-inch touch screen which offers 320x400-pixel resolution. The screen is protected by Gorilla glass and it responses to the touch instantly. But limited screen size makes it difficult to view and intermingle with a lot of things.

At the top right corner you will see solid, metallic power and volume lock button. The magnetic charge / sync port is also located at the right edge.

The volume rocker is located on the left side, and a five megapixel EDoF camera and speaker at the back cover.

When you slide the top part of the phone the hidden querty keyboard appears. The alphabetic keys are extremely congested and possibility of typing a wrong word is very high.

But there are some good features too. For instance, the smartphone has 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 512 MB RAM. It has all the modern features such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS. It also come with 8GB internal memory, and 910mAh battery.

Software
The WebOS2.0 is one of the fastest and user friendly OS that can even give Android a tough fight.

The OS is capable of multitasking without any glitch. Stacks and Just Type are the most wonderful app in this phone.

With Stacks you can work on as many things as you wish at the same time. You can open multiple windows and work on contacts and Google maps simultaneously.

A major shortcoming of this OS is that it still lacks in apps department. The apps available are quite less compared to Android Market.

Performance
Veer does not satisfy as a smartphone. There are several faults in this phone. The display of the Veer can be painful to eyes if you surf internet for a long time.

The phone claims that it runs on 4G network but sadly offers 5Mbps download speed at strong reception areas.

The phone is so small that the speaker and mic are so closely located; the caller may hear himself from the other end. However, the GPS and Wi-Fi works nicely.

The audio clarity is extremely clear despite the small speaker, but the camera performs poorly indoor. The 910mAh lithium ion battery with a talk time of 5 hours is a major disappointment.

Final Verdict
HP Veer 4G is priced at $100 on contract. The phone is cheap but it packs nothing special to make it an ideal smartphone.

The only attractive thing about this phone is its compact size. From internet speed to image quality, the phone does not stand a chance against other major smartphones. But if beauty matters more than brain, then this one is for you.
