Consumers intrigued by Apple’s tablet; unlikely to spend $1000

In two separate consumer survey reports released Thursday by shopping site Retrevo.com and ChangeWave Research, it came out that consumers are intrigued by Apple’s rumored tablet and are interested in buying it.

However, both surveys found that the reported $1,000 price tag could make consumers think twice before deciding to buy the tablet.

However, both surveys found that the reported $1,000 price tag could make consumers think twice before deciding to buy the tablet.

Retrevo.com surveyed around 500 consumers and found that 70 percent people are unwilling to pay more than $700 for Apple’s tablet. Forty four percent are not interested in purchasing the device if it requires a monthly data plan.

ChangeWave Research surveyed 3,314 consumers in which three-fourth are “willing to pay $500 or more,” and 37 percent are willing to pay more than $700 for Apple’s tablet.

Apple is expected to unveil its tablet on Jan. 27 in San Francisco. The exact specifications of the device are still unknown, though it’s reported that it’s “about a 10 to 11-inches touch-screen” device that looks like a larger version of iPhone.

Suspense over carrier service for Apple’s tablet
Speculations are rife in the market that Apple is in talks with both Verizon Wireless and AT&T Network, but nobody can say for sure about which carrier will be picked by the company for its rumored “iSlate” tablet PC.

As per reports in the market, it’s possible that one version of the tablet will run on Verizon’s CDMA network and other will operate on AT&T’s GSM network.

Both companies are more than ready and willing to accommodate Apple’s new tablet on their networks.

EA working with Apple to create games for its “iSlate” tablet
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Thursday that iPhone maker is collaborating with game publisher Electronic Arts to create games for its soon-to-be announced tablet PC.

However, not much is known about the project, since neither Apple nor EA are ready to divulge any kind of information regarding this matter at present.

As per WSJ reports, EA is not the only one Apple plans to collaborate with; there are other companies like Conde Nast, New York Times, News Corp. and HarperCollins.

By collaborating with them Apple intends to bring vast amount of content from varied sources on its tablet, ranging from magazines, newspapers and books etc.

Reportedly, Apple is also in talks with TV networks like CBS, which owns GameSpot, and ABC’s parent company Walt Disney to offer monthly subscriber services to its consumer.
