The company is planning to release NX10 digital compact camera device this spring, with three different lens options.
In March 2009, the company first showed NX10 camera to the world, promising a device that would offer D-SLR ‘image quality’ and ‘speed’ all wrapped up in a smaller body.
The NX10 camera looks a lot like a mini-D-SLR. It is not a D-SLR as its body structure is smaller, and lacks a mirror box. (an ingredient responsible for providing speedy auto-face).
However Samsung is claiming that the autofocus of the NX10 is “fast and decisive.”

In addition to capturing good quality still images, the NX10 will also be capable of capturing high-definition videos at 1280 by 720 at 30 progressive frames per second.
The company has confirmed that the sensor on its NX10 camera is identical to that featured on Samsung’s GX-20 digital SLR. However a Samsung spokesman said in a statement that GX-series flash units might not be completely compatible with the NX10.
Samsung claims that EVF in NX10 is ‘more responsive’ than that of Panasonics Micro Four Thirds cameras.
The device is also featuring a ‘Supersonic Dust Reduction’ system and dynamic range mode-- “Smart Range” that will capture and display the dark and bright areas of the picture in the same frame.
Availability and price
Samsung’s NX10 compact digital camera will hit the store shelves sometime in spring though the exact date is yet to be announced. It will be available in two colors—Titan Silver and Noble Black.
There is still a whole lot of information to be released by the company, including the pricing of the camera and other details such as shooting performance, shutter range and burst rate etc.
Samsung hinted that it has plans to launch a higher-spec version and also a ‘touch-screen’ version of the device in future.
