College Park, Md. -- Steve Slaton rushed for 137 yards and scored three times Thursday night in leading No. 4 West Virginia to a 31-14 win over Maryland.

Noel Devine contributed 136 rushing yards on only five carries, as the Mountaineers won for the third time in as many games. It was their 10th consecutive victory against non-conference opponents.
Quarterback Pat White completed eight of 13 passes for 95 yards and ran for a touchdown. The game was deadlocked at 7-7 after one period before West Virginia ran off 24 unanswered points.
Maryland, which has lost four straight to the Mountaineers, fell to 2-1 this season.
Keon Lattimore ran for 80 yards and a score for the Terrapins.
Slaton put West Virginia in front for good with a 22-yard run at the end of a 78-yard drive with 5:02 remaining in the first half. He scored on a pair of one-yard runs in the second half.
