A day after Apple Inc. pushed out an iOS update said to fix the battery drainage issue plaguing its devices, users are claiming the problem still persists.
People using the iPhone 4S and other devices upgraded to iOS 5, which came out last month, reported extremely short stand-by times on those devices, even as short as 8 hours.
Apple acknowledged the problem and said it would be releasing a software update to address it in a few weeks.
The iOS 5.0.1, which came out on Thursday, was expected to be that software update. However, some issues remained.
“The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices,” the Cupertino, California-based company said. “We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.”
Battery still draining at same rate
This statement came after users posted on Apple's boards that the flaw still hadn't been corrected.
On Support Communities on Apple's website, user 'coloradoappleuser' wrote, “Updated about 1.5 hours ago, battery has drained 20% since then with no usage! This is awful!”
'JohnMantooth' echoed, “Upgraded to 5.0.1 this morning. Still draining at the exact same rate. Unplugged with a full charge 2 1/2 hours ago, and already down to 80% with light usage. Just lost 2% during a 15 minute shower. I see no difference at all.”
