iPhone 5 rumor: launch on Oct. 7, pre-order in Sept.

It’s also speculated that the iPhone5 will run iOS 5, company’s upcoming mobile operating system.

Eagerly waiting for Apple's next smartphone? Well, according to fresh rumors, Apple's fifth-generation model will finally be available in early October.

There have been numerous reports and speculations about the long-awaited iPhone 5 release date, with some assuming the new model could be unveiled at the end of August or the beginning of September.

Ready for October surprise?
Now fresh reports claim a new release date for technology giant’s next generation smartphone.

According to sources for blog 9to5Mac, the iPhone 5 could go on sale on Friday, Oct. 7, with preorders to start on Sept. 30.

Citing information from its own sources, 9to5Mac said, “Apple has been weighing between launching the new iPhone on October 7th or October 14th, but with the product’s latest stages of pre-mass-production currently moving along nicely, Apple is presently shooting towards a launch on the 7th. On top of this, unlike with the iPad 2, Apple plans to offer pre-orders for the new iPhone.”

Several tech blogs and websites claim that the new smartphone will include 8-megapixel camera, Apple’s A5 dual-core processor, a wider screen, a better camera (possibly 8 megapixels) and more RAM.

Pre-order in Sept.
Reportedly, Apple will offer the next-generation smartphone for preorder a week before it hits store shelves, looking at either Sept. 29 or 30, however, one of 9To5Mac's sources pins the 30th as the most likely date.

The latest report does not fall in line with an earlier rumor that claimed Apple will launch its fifth-generation smartphone as early as August this year.

The tech pundits have been debating for the past two weeks over the exact day of the iPhone 5 launch, with the general consensus that since the iPod maker has not released the iPhone during this year's WWDC, it will include the iPhone launch at this September’s event, alongside the public release of iOS 5.

New iPhone 5 features
Several tech blogs and websites claim that the new smartphone will include 8-megapixel camera, Apple’s A5 dual-core processor, a wider screen, a better camera (possibly 8 megapixels) and more RAM.

Also, the fifth generation smartphone will be ultra-thin, will boast of a tapered design with a curved glass display, and will feature hardware upgrade to enable 3G FaceTime video conferencing, and NFC (near-field communication) technology that would enable the device to act as an electronic wallet.

It’s also speculated that the iPhone5 will run iOS 5, company’s upcoming mobile operating system.
