Missing 'Superman' movie producer Ilya Salkind found in hospital

Legendary "Superman" producer Ilya Salkind, who had been missing since the end of January, is found alive in a Mexican hospital, according to multiple entertainment and celebrity gossip websites.

Salkind is a film and television producer, well known for his contributions to the live-action Superman films of the 1970s and '80s alongside his father, Alexander Salkind.

Producer’s disappearance
The producer of the films "Superman," "Superman II" and "Superman III" went missing on January 30. He had been staying at a family home in Tepozlan, just south of Mexico City.

According to FOX News, the Salkind family said they last saw him on Sunday night and that he may have left the house Monday morning to go to a dentist appointment and run some errands.

Concerned friends of the producer filed a missing persons report with Mexican authorities on Feb. 2. They even created a web site to help find him.

The family members became alarmed when Salkind failed to show up for a dentist's appointment the following day.

Found sedated
Fortunately, the 64-year-old producer has been found, and he is alive!

He was found sedated in a Mexico hospital on Thursday (Feb. 3), four days after missing in Mexico, TMZ reports.

Citing a friend of the producer, Perezhilton.com is reporting that Salkind was found alive in a hospital Thursday morning, and is currently sedated.

Salkind was brutally attacked?
Meanwhile, Salkind’s daughter Anastasia has told TMZ that her father was "brutally attacked" in Mexico and is being treated in a Mexican hospital for bruises on his head, reported the gossip website.

Anastasia told the site that she's been in contact with the caretaker of her father’s estate in Mexico, who informed her Salkind was in serious pain when he was discovered Thursday, after being disappearing since Sunday.

Anastasia was also told by the caretaker that her producer dad has bruises on his head.

According to TMZ, Anastasia believes her father was kidnapped, though Mexican authorities have not confirmed or denied her suspicion.

Also Forbes is reporting that Morelos Attorney General Luis Benitez Pedro Velez says
Salkind was hurt while in Tepoztlan, a town about 55 miles south of Mexico City. But, the cause of the injury is not yet known.

The investigation into Salkind's disappearance is underway.

Ilya Juan Salkind Dominguez, usually known as Ilya Salkind, is the producer of Christopher Reeve’s Superman films which contained the tagline "You'll Believe a Man Can Fly!"

Salkind produced "Superman" in 1978 and its two sequels along with his father.

He is also the producer of "The Adventures of Superboy," which ran for four seasons in syndication.
