The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said surface paint on the imported toy cars contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.
The toy cars are sold with four additional tires and a remote controller.
"Formula 1" is printed on the packaging. The cars were sold at retail dollar and discount stores from October through November for about $1.
The CPSC said consumers with questions can contact the Commerce, Calif., company at 877-6555-8697 and can return the toys to the store where they were purchased for a refund.
