Bristol Palin to Margaret Cho: Mom didn't force me to dance

Bristol, the unwed daughter of 2008 vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin denied that her mother forced her to go on 'Dancing with the Stars.'

A war of words has evolved between 'Dancing With the Stars' costars Margaret Cho and Bristol Palin. Cho has recently blogged that Bristol’s mom forced her daughter to appear on the show in an effort to increase her own popularity. Now, Bristol has snarked back at Cho via her Facebook page.

Cho, the American comedienne, blogged on Nov. 29 that Bristol’s mother Sarah Palin told her 20-year-old daughter to compete on the hit ABC series.

Cho’s rant
Speculating about Bristol's appearance on the reality dance show, Cho wrote on her blog, "I heard from someone who really should know (really should seriously know the dirt really really) that the only reason Bristol was on the show was because Sarah Palin forced her to do it."

"Sarah supposedly blames Bristol harshly and openly…for not winning the election, and so she told Bristol she 'owed' it to her to do DWTS so that 'America would fall in love with her again' and make it possible for Sarah Palin to run in 2012..." she blogged, according to UsMagazine.com.

Bristol fires back
But the unwed daughter of 2008 vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin denied that her mother forced her to go on 'Dancing with the Stars.'

Bristol used a Facebook post to react to fellow 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant Margaret Cho’s claims, according to Us.

The teen mom, who finished third in the contest, says it saddens her that anyone would think her mother blamed her for costing her the election, insisting instead that her parents were her top supporters on the show.

Writes bluntly
In an open letter on her Facebook page on Saturday night, Bristol wrote, "Let me be blunt: my mom did not 'force' me to go on DWTS."

She continued, "She did not ask me either. The show approached me. I thought about it. I made the decision."

"I will give my friend credit for creativity, and extra points for getting so many 'facts' wrong in so few sentences," she added.

In her posting, Bristol also credits her parents for keeping her spirits high during her time on the show.

"Anyone who watched the show could tell I performed better, and I felt better about myself, when they were in the audience," she wrote. "I wanted to make them both proud, but politics had nothing to do with it. Loving my parents had everything to do with it."

The note finishes by saying that if Cho truly understood her family's "commonsense conservative values," she would "embrace us faster than kd lang at an Indigo Girls concert."

About the teen mom
Bristol has a child out of wedlock with the 20-year-old Wasilla resident Levi Johnston.

Johnston and Bristol began dating during their freshman year of high school. The two later became engaged.

Bristol gave birth to Johnston’s son, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, on Dec. 27, 2008.

Bristol was a high school senior when she delivered her baby. She and Johnston, who posed in 'Playgirl' last year, broke off their engagement in March 2009.
