Lindsay Lohan gets a small break from rehab

The ‘Mean Girls’ star, accompanied by two other women from the Betty Ford Center, was spotted at The River shopping center in Rancho Mirage, CA.

Lindsay Lohan is getting bored at the Betty Ford Center, it seems. The actress was allowed to take a break to go out and indulge in some retail therapy on Tuesday.

The ‘Mean Girls’ star, accompanied by two other women from the Betty Ford Center, was spotted at The River shopping center in Rancho Mirage, CA.

LiLo goes shopping
After browsing a bit at Borders bookstore, LiLo bought a few magazines, and then headed to the Century Rancho Mirage movie theater, which is located about three miles away from the Betty Ford Center.

A theater employee told TMZ that the actress had come to watch a movie, but had to leave as she started getting noticed by other moviegoers.

This was believed to be her first trip off the grounds at Betty Ford.

The troubled actress has been ordered to stay in the rehab, post the New Year, till Jan. 3.

The actress, who is said to be currently low on finances, was also seen shopping at the pocket-friendly Forever 21 in a local Palm Desert, California, mall, where she bought about $250 worth of loungewear, a source tells People.

“She looked good. She had her hair down and was wearing sunglasses, a white T-shirt and jeans,” said an employee who wished to remain unnamed. “She seemed pleasant.”

The employee added that the actress was accompanied by an unidentified female, but she looked around and picked out everything on her own. He described the actress as “happy and was courteous.”

Managers at Borders and Century Theatres refused to comment about Lindsay’s visit, when contacted by RadarOnline.com on Sunday.

Working from the rehab center
The troubled actress has been ordered to stay in the rehab, post the New Year, till Jan. 3.

Meanwhile, her 6126 fashion label is being taken care of by its president, and Lindsay’s long-time friend, Kristi Kaylor.

Contrary to her probation report, which said the fashion line is falling apart, Kaylor said, “It's doing fine.”

“While she's getting healthy, I'm running it,” she said, adding that even inside her rehab facility, LiLo is working on her a new collection. However, things are expected to get smoother after the actress is freed from the rehab.

“It will be better when she is able to be hands-on with designing, because she is amazingly talented,” said Kaylor. “But she's now spending time getting healthy. The orders are strong, and she's already working on fall handbags.”
