'Suge' Knight arrested after allegedly pointing gun at a man

The bald, bearded Suge was taken to the LAPD's Southwest Division in handcuffs and charged with assault with a deadly weapon- a gun.

Los Angeles police on Thursday arrested rap music mogul Marion 'Suge' Knight after he allegedly drew his gun on an unidentified man, according to multiple tabloid reports.

The notorious hip-hop star and co-founder of Death Row Records was arrested in Los Angeles just after midnight Thursday (May 20) on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the reports, citing Los Angeles police officials.

Suge waves gun
The 45-year-old musician, whose real name is Marion Knight, was detained after allegedly brandishing a gun at another motorist while driving his white Cadillac Escalade sports utility vehicle in the early hours, police said.

'Suge' Knight allegedly pointed a gun at another motorist and then drove off in his Cadillac.

Suge was also booked for driving on a suspended license, Harding said. He was released Thursday after posting 65,000 dollars bail.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, MTV reports, Suge was taken into custody after witnesses called authorities to report the incident.

Arrested by swarm of LAPD officers
A report from The Associated Press says Suge was stopped by California Highway Patrol officers in the Los Angeles County town of Gardena, close to Compton, where the musician grew up, at about 12:30 a.m. and immediately turned over to LA police who swarmed around his white Escalade.

The bald, bearded Suge was then taken to the LAPD's Southwest Division in handcuffs and charged with assault with a deadly weapon- a gun.

"He was cooperative," Los Angeles police officer April Harding told AP.

Suge was also booked for driving on a suspended license, Harding said. He was released Thursday after posting 65,000 dollars bail.

The alleged victim reportedly also told police that Suge robbed him.

About the rap mogul and his legal troubles
It's not 'Suge' Knight's first brush with the law. He also is a suspect in the '09 armed robbery of rap producer Noel "Detail" Fisher.

In October 1996, the 43-year-old rap star was jailed for violating his probation on a previous assault case by allegedly kicking a man during a scuffle at a Las Vegas hotel. He was thrown behind bars again in 2003 for violating parole for punching a parking attendant at a Hollywood nightclub.

In Aug. (08), Knight was arrested in Las Vegas on drug and assault charges after he was accused of beating his girlfriend and pulling a knife on her during an argument outside a strip club.

Knight, professionally known as "Suge"- short for "Sugar Bear," is a controversial entrepreneur in the hip hop music world and co-founder and CEO of Death Row Records.

Knight, who helped promote the music career of such rap stars as Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur in the 1990s, declared bankruptcy two years ago, forcing the sale of his Death Row Records to New York–based company Global Music Group.
