Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package fails to impress gamers

The update rendered some of the features of Xbox Live unusable or unstable. The gamers were not able to load the maps, and even matchmaking was inaccessible.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has finally released Stimulus Package eagerly awaited on the Xbox Live. But this was not really the kind of launch that video game enthusiast had been anticipating.

As the gamers downloaded $15 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package, aimed at delivering “additional action-packed multiplayer maps, including brand-new battlegrounds and legendary fan-favorites from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare,” they got a nasty shock.

The update rendered some of the features of Xbox Live unusable or unstable. The gamers were not able to load the maps, and even matchmaking was inaccessible.

In fact, a lot of gamers took to the blogs and online forums to vent their ire for the inconvenience they had to face while downloading the stimulus package.

For instance, an anonymous gamer commented on Modern Warfare 2 site, “Infinity Ward i hope you are listening! dont you pay people to test the games and find the problems with them before they are released? the online community has found more of these problems and we put money in your pockets!”

Problem fixed
The problem was immediately addressed by Larry Hryb, programming director at Xbox Live, who took to his Twitter feed confirming, “Matchmaking is in a bad state on Xbox LIVE,” and that they were working to fix the problem.

Even after the problem was fixed, majority of the gamers seemed disappointed with the update, as this was not the kind of stimulus package they were expecting from a game that has broken sale records.

The problem was resolved midday, and Hryb updated his Twitter page, informing gamers, “Matchmaking across #XboxLIVE is fixed! You may still have trouble purchasing and we'll let u know ASAP when fixed.”

Stimulus Package leaves gamers unimpressed
Even after the problem was fixed, majority of the gamers seemed disappointed with the update, as this was not the kind of stimulus package they were expecting from a game that has broken sale records.

A gamer named EchoNiner commented on the gaming site that he was disappointed "over the fiasco with the download this morning,” and even after it was corrected he was again disappointed to find that gamers got “another MOSH Pit style of gaming with new maps,” which was not “explained to buyers.”

“I will definitely not make any additional map pack purchases from Infinity Ward in the future,” he added.

Another gamer named sammieO7 stated, “To anyone who has not yet purchased the new stimulus pack. SAVE ur money!!!!!!!!!! U are not able to select the type of game u wish to play, it throughs u into any random. This type of game play was not in the description before i purchase the maps. If it were i would not have wasted my money. THANKS IW. U will never get any of my money again. BUNCH OF CROOKS!!!!!!”
