Lawyer: Hopper too ill for deposition

Los Angeles -- Dennis Hopper's lawyer said in court papers the cancer-stricken Hollywood actor is too sick to give a deposition in his divorce case.

Hopper, 73, who is fighting prostate cancer, filed for divorce in January. He and his wife, Victoria, were married for 14 years and have one child.

The legal papers filed by attorney Joe Mannis and obtained by TMZ this week state Hopper weighs slightly more than 100 pounds and can only afford to pay Victoria $5,000 a month in spousal support because he only has liquid assets of $300,280 and another $10,900 in his corporations.

"It is doubtful that Mr. Hopper will ever recover sufficiently to be subject to a deposition," TMZ reported one of Hopper's doctors said in the legal papers.

The actor -- whose films credits include "Rebel Without a Cause," "True Grit," "Easy Rider" and "Apocalypse Now" -- recently starred in the television series "Crash."
