Doha, Qatar -- Spain's Alvaro Quiros shot 8-under-par 64 Saturday, giving him a one-stroke lead after the third round of the Qatar Masters golf tournament at Doha.

His 54 hole total, 16-under 200, matches the tournament record set by Scotland's Paul Lawrie in 1999.

Quiros sizzled from the start Saturday at the Doha golf club course, making birdies at three of the first four holes, and his bogey-free round included eight birdies in all.

"I'm very happy," said the 26-year-old Spaniard, the longest hitter on the European golf tour. "I worked hard last week and it looks like the scores are starting to come."

On Sunday, he seeks the third tournament title in his third season on the tour.

Overnight leader Louis Oosthuizen (69) of South Africa is alone in second place at 15-under-par 201, despite a double-bogey at the par-4 fifth hole.

Sharing third at 12-under 204 are Maarten Lafeber of Netherlands (66) and Sweden's Henrik Stenson (66).
