Auckland, New Zealand -- Top-seeded Elena Dementieva advanced to the semifinals of the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, Thursday, setting up a match against France's Aravane Rezai.

Dementieva, of Russia, winner of three tournaments and the singles gold medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, scored a decisive 6-3, 6-1 victory over Shahar Peer of Israel.
Rezai moved on with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Edina Gallovits of Romania.
Russian Elena Vesnini also gained the semis, eliminating second-seeded Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 6-3, 0-6, 6-3.
Vesnini will go against Britain's Anne Keohvahong, who advanced when Japanese qualifier Ayumi Morita withdrew after losing the opening set in their quarterfinal match.
