Oyyawa -- Canadian trips abroad fell 3.2 percent in October to 4.2 million, although overnight travel from the United States into Canada rose, Statistics Canada reported.

As the value of the Canadian dollar, the loonie, was falling, Canadians made 1.9 million same-day car trips to the United States, down 6.7 percent from September, while they made 1.5 million overnight U.S. trips, down 0.8 percent, the report said.

As for visits into Canada, "overnight travel from all overseas countries fell 2 percent from September to 376,000 trips in October, the lowest level in a year," StatsCan said. Travel from Britain fell 4.1 percent, while South Korea posted the largest visitor decline of 10 percent among the top 12 overseas markets.

U.S. residents made 1 million overnight trips into Canada in October, up 0.7 percent from September, the report said.
