Nashville -- Tennessee defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson has received a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.

Friday's suspension means the Titans' third-year pro from Michigan State will miss the remainder of the regular season. His suspension begins with Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns and he may not practice with the team.

Vickerson is eligible to return Dec. 29, a day after the regular season finale against the Indianapolis Colts.

In seven games this season, Vickerson, a reserve, made 14 tackles and 1 ½ sacks.

"It was kind of a rough situation for Kevin, the timing and everything," Vickerson's agent Tony Fleming, told The Nashville Tennesseean while confirming the suspension was for a banned diuretic. "He completely feels like he was innocent and didn't do anything wrong. But for the benefit of the team and the situation he wanted to get it out of the way and get ready for the Super Bowl run."

The Titans (11-1) are tied with the New York Giants for the best record in the NFL to date this season.
