Roseland, N.J. -- The U.S. shed 250,000 non-farm jobs October to November, a research group said Wednesday.

Automatic Data Processing Inc. also revised a previous estimate of 157,000 jobs lost in the September to October period to 179,000.

The recent figure, which does not include 27,000 Boeing machinists returning to work after a strike, "offers evidence of a labor market that continues to weaken," the ADP National Employment Report said.

Manufacturing jobs shrank for the 27th consecutive month, losing 118,000 jobs in the month. Service-producing jobs also declined by 92,000 jobs, shrinking for only the second time since November 2002, ADP said.

Construction jobs, in decline for 24 months, lost 44,000 jobs, adding to a total of 521,000 construction jobs lost since August 2006.

Companies with more than 500 workers lost 41,000 jobs during the month.

Businesses with between 50 and 499 workers, lost 130,000 jobs, while smaller businesses fell for the second straight month, losing 79,000 jobs, the report said.
