Demitra scored at 18:05 of the first period and into an empty net with 12 seconds left in the third.

Daniel Sedin added a goal and two assists.

After starting goalie Curtis Luongo suffered a leg injury following a first period brawl, backup Curtis Sanford stopped 17-of-18 shots for the Canucks, winners in seven of their last nine outings.

Pittsburgh averted a shutout when Mike Zigomanis scored 22 seconds into the third period.

Netminder Dany Sabourin gave up two goals on 18 shots for the Penguins, who have lost two of three since a six-game winning streak.

Less than 30 seconds into the game, 50 minutes of penalties were handed out, including two game misconducts, after Pittsburgh's Matt Cooke upended a Vancouver player and ignited a brawl.

Cooke and the Canucks' Jannik Hansen were ejected.
