Dunedin, Fla -- The family of a Florida man who dropped dead during a Sunday morning golf game decided to scatter his ashes at the very spot where he died.
Jim Long, 70, died on Sept. 7 just as he got ready to putt for a birdie at the 10th hole of the Dunedin Country Club, The St. Petersburg Times reported Wednesday.
Last week, Long's son, Chris, poured Jim's ashes, into one of his father's golf shoes and then sprinkled them next to the sand trap at the 10th hole.
"There's still plenty of dad left to go around," Chris said, handing the shoe to brother-in-law Tom Shores and friend Phil Desreaux.
Shores lifted the flag and Desreaux poured in the remaining ashes.
Long's family said he was a fanatical golfer who played every day he could.
They said he used to draw faces on his golf balls and always carried a bottle
of whiskey in his bag.
