London -- British pop star Gary Glitter reportedly changed the name and transferred the ownership of his yacht while he was serving time for child molestation.

Glitter, 64, recently returned to England following his release from a Vietnamese prison where he served a three-year sentence for committing obscene acts with two girls, ages 10 and 11.

The singer has been met with protesters angered by his presence while he stays at a friend's cottage in Hill Head. He reportedly hid out Tuesday night in a police station because he feared for his safety.

The Sun said Voyager -- the 40-foot-ship where it discovered Glitter hiding out in 2000 after he served a jail sentence in an unrelated child pornography case -- was renamed Cruel Trick II more than a year ago in an apparent plan to give Glitter a place to lay low.

The yacht, which is now in the name of one of Glitter's friends, has been docked in Spain for years, the newspaper added.
