Washington -- Jason Werth and Jimmy Rollins homered Thursday, propelling the Philadelphia Phillies to an 8-4 win over Washington and a series sweep of the Nationals.
The Phillies boosted their division lead over the idle second-place New York Mets in the National League East to a full game.
Rollins drove in three runs, two of them with a fourth-inning homer that gave Philadelphia a 5-2 lead. Washington committed three errors that led to two unearned runs, one of which came while the Phillies were breaking the game open with a three-run sixth.
Kyle Kendrick (9-5) gave up two runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings to get the victory. It was his first win in five starts.
The loss went to John Lannan (6-11), who coughed up eight runs (six earned) with seven strikeouts in 5 2/3innings.
Rollins' other RBI came on a ground out in a three-run second, during which Werth contributed a solo homer.
