Nice, France -- Angelina Jolie has given birth to twins in a French hospital in Nice with her boyfriend, actor Brad Pitt, by her side, a doctor says.
Dr. Michael Sussmann told People magazine Sunday Jolie gave birth to a son, Knox Leon, and a daughter, Vivienne Marcheline, Saturday at the Fondation Lenval hospital and that all three were in good condition.
"The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly," Sussmann said. "Angelina is in very good spirits. Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well."
The two children, who are the fifth and sixth children for the celebrity couple, were delivered via Caesarean section, People magazine said.
Jolie, 33, earlier said she and Pitt, 44, were surprised to learn she was
carrying twins.
"It did shock us, and we jumped to six (children) quickly," she said. "But we like a challenge."
The twins join Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 2, as members of the Pitt/Jolie clan.
