Parragon charm necklaces recalled

Washington -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Parragon Books children's necklaces due to risk of lead exposure.

About 500,000 of the necklaces, made in China and imported by Parragon Inc., of New York City, were sold at retail stores nationwide from January 2003 to June 2008, retailing for about $7, a CPSC statement said.

The recall involves necklaces with charms in the shape of ballet shoes attached to them.

Consumers were advised to take the necklaces from children and contact Parragon for instructions on returning them and to receive a free children's book.
