Detroit -- Rocker Jack White says he really cares for his hometown of Detroit, and residents of the Michigan city are "truly blessed" to live there.

The White Stripes rocker says he wrote a poem about Detroit to clear up any potential misconceptions that he does not hold positive feelings about the city, the Detroit Free Press reported Sunday.

White had been quoted in various publications, saying less-than-flattering things about Detroit's music scene.

But, the singer said, "those expressions of mine have never been a representation of my feelings about Detroit the city, a town that I have strong feelings about ... nor were they expressions about its citizens."
White's poem "Courageous Dream's Concern" offers lyrical descriptions of the Motor City and the Raconteurs rocker offered a brief summary of the work's main focus, the Free Press reported.

"The following poem is the Detroit from my mind. The Detroit that is in my heart," he told the newspaper. "The home that encapsulates and envelops those who are truly blessed with the experience of living within its boundaries."
