New York -- U.S. stock indexes trended lower Friday, a day after markets plunged to lows on the year.
By the close Thursday, the Dow Jones industrial average had fallen 358.41 points and set a closing low for the year at 11,453.42, a mark unseen since September 2006, The Wall Street Journal reported.
In midmorning trading Friday, the DJIA was off 0.30 percent or 34.36 points to 11,419.06. The Standard and Poor's 500 index lost 2.55 points to 1,280.60, down 0.2 percent. The Nasdaq composite index fell 0.62 percent to 2,306.89, down 14.48 points.
The 10-year U.S. Treasury note gained 6/32 to yield 4.01 percent.
The dollar was mixed. The euro traded at $1.5755 from Thursday's $1.5764, while the dollar traded at 106.24 yen from Thursday's 106.69 yen.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei index lost 277.96 points to 13,544.36, off 2.01 percent.
In London, the FTSE 100 index fell 184.90 points to 6,191.60, off 2.9 percent.
