San Francisco -- John Bowker's three-run homer in a five-run eighth inning carried the San Francisco Giants past the Detroit Tigers 8-6 in inter-league play Monday.

Bowker and Fred Lewis each had a home run, double and three runs batted in for the Giants. Rich Aurilla contributed two hits with an RBI and a run scored.

San Francisco starter Tim Lincecum gave up four runs on five hits and three walks over seven innings. Keiichi Yabu (3-3) got the win, which ended a three-game San Francisco slide, with a perfect eighth.

Marcus Thames hit two home runs and Ivan Rodriguez went 3-for-3 with two runs scored for Detroit. Curtis Granderson added a two-run single but Detroit's win streak ended at six.
Tigers starter Justin Verlander was tagged for three runs -- two earned -- on five hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out seven.
