New York -- Crude oil prices rebounded past $136 a barrel Thursday on the New York Mercantile Exchange, gaining half the distance to the record set last Friday.
Crude prices rose from a Thursday morning price of $133.90 to $136.62 per barrel.
The price peaked last Friday at $139.12 per barrel.
The price of heating oil fell in New York in late trading, down 0.001 cents to $3.9417 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline prices fell 0.0048 cents to $3.5212 per gallon. Natural gas prices fell 0.009 cents to $12.789 per million British thermal units.
At the pump, the national average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline climbed 0.08 cents to a record $4.06, AAA said.
