Maple Leafs reported offering Wilson jobby MT Bureau - June 3, 2008 - 0 comments
Toronto -- The Toronto Maple Leafs reportedly have offered former San Jose Coach Ron Wilson their head coaching job, TSN of Canada reported Leafs interim General Manager Cliff Fletcher made the offer to Wilson and is negotiating a deal. Wilson, 53, was fired by the Sharks after the club was eliminated in the Western Conference semifinals by the Dallas Stars. After four-plus seasons with San Jose, Wilson had the most wins (206) and playoff games coached (52) in franchise history and ranked second in regular-season games coached. Wilson has a 518-446-127 record over 1,091 games with Anaheim, Washington and San Jose. The Toronto head coaching slot has been vacant since Paul Maurice was fired following two seasons during which the Leafs failed to make the playoffs. Copyright 2008 by United Press International.
