UCLA wins NCAA golf championship

West Lafayette, Ind. -- Kevin Chappell finished at 2-under 286 Saturday to win the individual title and give UCLA the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship.

Chappell shot a final-round 4-over 76 and UCLA had a 42-over 1,194.

Defending champion Stanford was second at 1,195 and Southern California third at 1,196. Oklahoma State was fourth at 1,200 and Clemson fifth at 1,201.

Chappell, Phillip Francis and Craig Leslie all posted a 76 for UCLA Saturday and Erik Flores a 78.

In individual scoring, Nick Taylor of Washington tied Jorge Campillo of Indiana for second at 289.
