New York -- With no major reports released Friday, U.S. stock markets ended a lackluster trading day in New York with mixed results.
By close Friday, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 13.19 points to 12,633.03, off 0.07 percent. The Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 1.86 points to 1,400.12, up 0.13 percent. The Nasdaq composite index added 14.34 points to 2,522.66, up 0.57 percent.
On the New York Stock Exchange, 1,685 stocks advanced and 1,411 declined on a volume of 1.307 billion shares traded.
The 10-year U.S. Treasury note gained 5/32 to yield 4.058 percent.
The dollar fell. The euro traded at $1.5554 from Thursday's $1.5507, while the dollar traded at 105.41 yen from Thursday's 105.59 yen.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei index gained 214.07 points to 14,338.54, up 1.52 percent.
In London, the FTSE 100 index dropped 14.60 points to 6,053.50, off 0.24 percent.
