New York -- Dwayne Carter, the rapper known professionally as Lil' Wayne, has submitted a DNA test in connection with a New York gun possession case.
The New York Post said Carter sat on a bench in a Manhattan courthouse hallway and swabbed his own cheeks with a cotton swab as a police detective watched. The test was administered on orders from a judge.
Prosecutor Joan Illuzzi-Orbon told the Post it will take two to three weeks to get the test results back.
Prosecutors want to see if the sample Carter submitted matches DNA found on an unregistered, loaded, .40-caliber Springfield Armory semi-automatic that was in a bag police allegedly saw Carter toss from his lap when they entered his tour bus when it was parked on a New York street last summer.
